Tim Connell's Winter Solstice Shows
Tim Connell is well-known to acoustic music fans as a top-tier, virtuoso mandolinist, touring nationally with Don Julin, Eric Skye and Mike Marshalls Ger Mandolin Orchestra.
Tim has also spent many years putting together a set of solo arrangements for the mandolin, from Brazilian choros to Irish jigs, from Beatles to Broadway. Tim couples these flights of masterful picking with heartfelt American songs, giving audiences an intimate window into his virtuosic yet emotional style and his deep passion for music and life.
In his Winter Solstice shows at Artichoke Cafe, Tim will be joined by several Portland musicians and will present a mix of their eclectic repertoire along with some creative interpretations of seasonal favorites.
Tim has created a sophisticated and original style on the mandolin. Regarded as one of the top North American interpreters of the Brazilian choro style on the mandolin, Tim has his own unique voice on the instrument, described in a Mandolin Magazine cover story as fiery and energetic, soulful and evocative. Tims latest releases include June Apple, a nationally-noted album of Bluegrass fiddle tunes with guitarist Eric Skye, and MandAlone, a collection of original solo mandolin arrangements including his popular arrangement of Here Comes the Sun.
